A few days ago, Lionsgate released the trailer for the latest Tyler Perry film, called "For Colored" Girls". The movie is an adaptation of the award-winning play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf." The original play is a collection of 20 poems, dealing with love, abandonment, rape, abortion, and more, told by seven different women who are identified only by color.
With an original release of January 2011, Tyler Perry is hoping this movie will be included in the awards season. The fully star studded cast includes Janet Jackson, Michael Ealy, Anika Noni Rose, Kerry Washington, Whoopi Goldberg, Kimberly Elise, Phylicia Rashad, Loretta Devine, Tessa Thompson, Khalil Kain, and Thandie Newton. I have been a Perry movie fan (not of the plays) since Diary of a Mad Black Woman so I am definitely excited. The movie will be in theaters on November 5th. (I think this may be a birthday outing for my BFF's and I)
