Royal Blue Booties by Jeffrey Campbell

Looky here at what I found on NYMag.com. Jeffrey Campbell's big royal blue wedge booties and they are SO haute in my little fab fashion book.

Jeffrey Campbell is quickly becoming one of THE hottest urban shoe designers. I say urban because that's the adjective that best fits opposite of Louboutins. Chic yet edgy with a little bit a punk = urban!

So are they SO HAUTE or SO NOT?

  • So Haute {its fresh, fun, and uber fab} (3 votes)
  • So Not {What in Baby Jesus' name were you thinking?} (1 vote)

A Good Hot Cup(s) of Cocoa - TAKERS

Whether you prefer yours with caramel, dark, or white chocolate there are tons to pick from in the movie Takers! From the first scene it will have you panting for more. It's definitely "Hey Bella" approved!

Luckily the movie has a pretty good story line and Chris Brown might just become the next Jackie Chan with those flips and jumps. It didn't hit #1 this weekend just for it's cast of fab hotties! In between boxer briefs scenes and slow walks to the camera they managed to slide Zoe Saldana in for the guys. Fellas, don't get too excited I think her part was probably shot in 2 days. But she is gorgeous in all 20 of her minutes.

Of course we all know the dark chocolate and the caramels of the movie but the white chocolate is nothing to slouch on either. Example, cutie in the middle with the hat. You probably stared at A.J., or as T.I. affectionately called him "Hollywood", for quite some time and then gave up figuring out where you've seen him before? He's been in Star Wars, and a few other unimportant movies but remember the movie "Jumper"? You know the movie where Samuel L. Jackson rocked that dreadful wig. Yep, that's Hayden Christensen - he could definitely jump my bones and a few other things. He's quite busy these days with this #1 movie, a Jumper sequel, and 4 other movies out by 2012.

If you were a little thrown by the ending, don't worry you still might be. There's no sequel however star and co-producer of the film, T.I., confirms we will see more of those delicious cast members soon. He tells BET, "I just got off the phone with the director, writer, the head of Screen Gems and the label heads over at Sony. We are working not on a sequel, but a prequel to tell the back story of the characters."

As for me, I cannot wait for this to go to DVD!

THE Fashion Benefit of The Season - Drive 2 Thrive III

Being in the press allows me many opportunities. One of which is attending FABULOUS runway shows. But the kind that mean the most to me are the ones that give back to our thriving community.

Each year, Echelon Life hosts the Drive to Thrive fashion benefit to strengthen community organizations which ‘stand in the gap’ between our citizenry and opportunity in the core areas of health, literacy and mentorship. The fashion benefit has previously featured 2008 Project Runway winner, Christian Siriano, and 2009 Bravo TV "Project Runway" Winner, Leanne Marshall.

This year's event, Discover Wonderland, will take place on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at Port Discovery featuring Lifetime TV’s Project Runway Designers Carol Hannah and Jay Sario, and Bravo TV’s Reco Chappelle from “The Fashion Show". Local designers Bishmie Cromartie and Wendy Kaufman will also be a part of this fab event!

A portion of proceeds will go towards Girls Empowerment Mission (GEM), a program to empower high school girls from under-served communities and empower them to be independent, self-sufficient, and confident young woman.

Hopefully I will see you there. Don't be afraid to support a good cause, it's only right! Click here to purchase tickets.

Oh and I plan to interview the designers for Iconography The Magazine so leave me a comment with some good questions to ask! (view my past interview)

Cindy Crawford for TSUM

Posing in uber sexy lingerie for the Russian luxury department store Tsum, Cindy Crawford is showing those younger models what being a Supermodel meant.

Sex, drugs, and parties really did Cindy Crawford well, because at 44 years old she's proving that she's still just that super!

Who's her surgeon? Just kidding!! How sexy does she look?

Plus-size Only Runway Show during NYFW

I really thought I knew every possible website for plus clothing until I received an email just a few minutes ago. The email was a press release for the first ever plus-size only runway show during New York Fashion Week.

OneStopPlus.com is the a premiere online destination for curvy women that will be producing the show on September 15th at The Atrium in Frederick P. Rose Hall, at the Lincoln Center. The show will feature prominent models Lizzie Miller, and Tocarra Jones. Plus-size icon Emme, who is the brand ambassador for OneStopPlus.com, will be hosting the red carpet.

"The recent confluence of events and energy within the plus-size movement makes this the perfect time for OneStopPlus.com to debut at New York Fashion Week," says Stephanie Sobel, President of OneStopPlus.com. "Top plus-size models like Crystal Renn and Lizzie Miller in Italian Vogue, French Elle, Glamour, Marie Claire, and others, validate that this is the magic moment for plus sizes."

Of course you know I plan to attend the event which is affectionately titled Belle Epoque, the Golden Age. For better or for worse we've made a huge step in exposing what's really in our Fatosphere.

Watch Fox's interview with president of OneStopPlus.com, Stephanie Sobel.

Will you be attending the show?

Tailor Made for Me

I rarely share photos of myself on my blog but when I put on my custom made dress handcrafted by my dear designer friend, Paco Rogiene, I felt amazing! Anyone who knows me knows I am the girl that NEVER wears dresses, would prefer flip flops or Louboutins, and rocks a mean snatch back ponytail.

Don't get me wrong I AM in love with fashion, just on other people. You know sometimes it hurts to be that beautiful and no one wakes up that way. So on most days where no event is on my schedule my bf affectionately refers to me as Plain Jane, or Homie Helen.

That is until this past Sunday at my friends wedding. I totally get it now. It makes perfect sense. You know that feeling of "everyone's watching me in this dress and it feels really good". Well that's the cloud I rode that day. I so understand the importance of custom made clothes. It fits perfectly and believe me I was way over excited because NOTHING fits me perfect. Its usually too much crouch, not even booty space, never even room for my ta-tas and always manages to shrink.

But not this eggplant jersey knit dress! It hugged all the right curves and managed to hide the muffin top. I was a little worried because Paco has never made any clothes for a woman of size. Just your little itty bitty negative 0 sizes that only 4% of America actually can wear. But as the true talent he is, just 4 days later a master piece was created. Naturally I copied the design from a Barbie outfit but I think I am now inspired to illustrate a few plus size dresses for all of you divas out there. No this doesn't mean I am a designer now (although I have thought about it), I just want you to feel as good as I did that did.

Believe me, I am never buying another store brought dress again. Check out my candids and let me know what you think? I love comments but please be nice.

Yes I have a kitty! Don't all the sweet gals have a kitty.

Yes I was in the bathroom - those are the best pics! Who cares, thanks to 4 days at Brick Bodies my muffin top is finally tamed, sheesh! **wipes forehead**

S/O to my BFF (I am sure she will be mad I posted this one but she's no photographer and my solo picture is trash!)

Halle's Vogue Cover Makes History

Halle is the first black woman to appear on Vogue's September issue since 1989.

Halle proves time and time again that she's a true belle. Sporting an uber cute short bob Halle shows us what being beautiful is all about.

More important than her new do, Halle is the second black woman to be featured on Vogue's September issue. (Naomi Campbell being the first in 1989). I'm guessing there are plenty of blacks over at the Vogue Black website, no need to put us paper too? Besides making history, who wouldn't want to be page 1 of 726 pages. Halle explains the significance of her agreeing to do this interview:

"What that means for a woman of color and what that means in the fashion world, what that means to pop culture, there was no way I could say, 'No, I'm not going to be on the biggest issue of the year.'"

History aside, If you're a gossip girl don't expect to get your rocks off with this issue. According to NYMag.com, she doesn't give us any details on her break up with Gabriel Aubry. Read the full interview.

Either way she looks amazing, don't you think?

Beyonce's New House of Dereon Fall 2010 Ad

Lemme upgrade you!

Beyonce called on her alter ego, Sasha Fierce, for the new ad campaign for House of Dereon. Which was seriously due for an upgrade. If the new collection looks remotely like the ad campaign sales just might up for the fall season.

I love this look, your thoughts?

The Void in the Fatosphere

I almost I got excited when I read that Saks Fifth Ave would soon be carrying plus-size apparel from uber luxe designers like Chanel, YSL, and McQueen until I realized a few very important points. I can't afford luxe designers no matter what size I am. Quite frankly as much as I love fashion I would have to really be "rolling in the dough" for me to drop thousands of dollars for a pair of shoes.

I also really wonder if there is a true reason why only few take a stab at creating plus size clothing. When I "google" plus size one of my favorite retailers come up - Torrid.com. Then Lane Bryant, a few Amazon listings, and then it all becomes very random after that. So it's clear there is a major clothing void in the fatosphere.

Ginia Bellafante wrote an interesting article in the NY Times. A point that stuck in my head was "With more weight comes more variation." By golly I think she's got a point. Being fat is so complex. You've got your traditional curvy shape, blessed with a little bit of everything in the right places. You could possess those DD's (that all the girls want) but have the dreadful noassatall.com disease. We can also flip that and you could be built like the chess board above your waist and have a small continent in your jeans. Or you just might be "big boned" and be fat all over. Either way you get her our point. So when I translated all of that into fashion I suddenly realized why my clothes never really fit perfectly. At this point I don't need high end I need the right fit! With all those variations it seems so easy to really get this plus size thing wrong.

I only hope that perhaps Marc Jacobs (or Mr. Duffy) will by chance read my blog and see how sensitive us fat folk are. You can't give me a jersey knit top, stick a label on the collar, and tell me $395. Because labels haven't been afforded to me I am not as gullible as those skinny chicks are. Put some love in it like you just baked my favorite chocolate cupcakes - ooo or those delicious brownies I love, yummy.

For what ever motives one may have, I appreciate the fact that people now see the Fatosphere and want to embrace it, make money off of it, whatever. Stop trying to turn my world into the Skintosphere because I don't fit there! My hips are too wide, and my chest is too big - hell even my head is big.
